The pictures you’ve seen of snow in New Zealand during the cooler winter months (June, July, August) are isolated to specific regions.
If snow is what your clients are after, then the Central Plateau in the North Island and Canterbury and Otago in the South Island are where the main skifields are located.
But beyond snow sports and scenery, there are many more reasons to visit New Zealand during winter!
It comes as a surprise to many people that Auckland and Northland are completely snow free, with many other regions around the country, particularly in the North Island, only experiencing very occasional snowfall.
Starting in Auckland, you’ll find a vibrant city that’s open for business all year round, with plenty of arts, culture, fine food and wine events happening in the region.
Heading to Northland, you’ll discover why this region was long ago dubbed ‘the winterless north’. The history and world renowned dive sites and sailing experiences are just some of the reasons it’s a favourite for visitors year round.
Cycling in both regions is perfectly possible all year round also, with great trails for all ages and abilities. Everything from short rides through to multi-day guided experiences are available throughout the year.
